Your site hasn't even been up a year and you haven't even been going through this for a full year and yet there is SO much useful information. Thank you SO much for taking the time to post your experience, it has been so helpful to me ::huggs::. I am 29 and have three children (9,8, and 2 yrs) and the most wonderful husband, and I am so scared. Reading other people's stories makes me feel a bit better. Thank you so much again!

I was just told two days ago that I have aplastic anemia after spending a week in the hospital and undergoing so many tests. As soon as I got home I got online and started researching it. I came across your site and am so thankful to see someone discussing how they are dealing with it. So thanks for sharing your story!

James,
A friend of mine, Brad Bresee who suffered from aplastic anemia sent me a link to your webpage. I
think that your site is great for supporting others who may be going through something similar, and helps to explain to family and friends what you are going through. Kudos to you for sharing your experiences. At the same time that my friend Brad diagnosed with AA, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. I went through lots of chemo and a stem cell transplant.
I am happy for you to hear that you have a donor match!
Believe in yourself - i have come to the conclusion after my own experiences, watching my father survive 10 years of remission from Multiple Myeloma, and others who have battled major illnesses, that positive thinking is as powerful as some of the greatest medicine. It sounds like you have a strong network of support and a positive outlook on life, so you are already on the right track!
Never give up either - last year I was told my chances of having kids were very slim, due to the chemo from the transplant. I was going into early menopause at 27, it didn't look good. But, just one month ago, my finacee and I found out we are expecting in October :)
I wish you all the best in your treatments and years to come!

JAMES!
wagwon broda! - I hope your feeling better. I went to take blood out last thursday. There were so many people! it was really nice to see. DID YOU SEE ME! I WAS ON TV! lol Jessica calls me and tells me that they were showing her give blood and i was there holding her hand. I know, i'm such a nice cousin. I miss you jamie - we need to double date again and go eat SUSHI. That was funny. You'll get better - to be honest, i think your body will re-build your immunity sytem by itself. My body just has this strong feeling. Don't worry james. I was reading all the posts and with all this love and support, you'll fly through this.
P.S Juan asks about you. He hopes that your feeling better and that this successfully ends soon.
I'll see you soon future cousin,
Love always,

James you are my little brother and I have known you since you were about 7 here is what I can say about you if ever someone was to ask.
1) You do incredibly well with everything you do in your life. I never accomplished half of what you did to date and for this I admire you in ways I cannot express.
2) You always have a smile on your face (when your not crashed out on my couch after a big meal) and never worry or stress over the small things.
3) You always try to look out for those that you love and those people are very lucky to have a guy like you in their lives.
There have been many times that I have asked myself why did something like this have to happen to a guy like you and I never seem to figure that part out. What I do know is this, when you successfully recover from this it will change your life in such a positive way.
What your Mother, Frances, Marie and Jessica have done for you is devotion and love in its purest sense and I admire and respect them more and more for it everyday. You are a very lucky man to be surrounded by people that love and care for you the way they do.
If I could give up my life for you to save yours I would do it in a heartbeat and I mean every word of this statement.
I love you very much, when this is over I’m taking you out to Barbarian's to eat the steak of steaks.
Be good and keep doing what your doing James your my hero and always will be.

You are in my thoughts xo

Hey Jamie,
We've been thinking about you alot and praying that all things will work out and you'll continue to have the strength you need each day.
You've built an awesome website here - it's a great way for any of us to get your story out there. I also want to tell you that your sisters did a fantastic job with the info night a few weeks ago on Sat night. As you know there was a great turnout but the quality of info was excellent from both Can Blood Services and Onematch.
Don't know if you're even bothering to follow the Leafs (i'm not!!) but worse than that are my Canadiens (my rant for the day). It's their 100th year as a team and they'll be lucky to make the playoffs - currently in 5th place (by some magic). And they just fired the coach because the million $ players stopped working for him (I dont get it - how can you be paid millions and not do anything - it's a game!!)
On Sun night I went to see Mario's indoor soccer game with Daniel and Frances. That is one tough game - I think I will stick to hockey!! Mario has tried to convince me to play a couple of times - glad I never agreed. Besides not understanding the game, I would look like an idiot out there. I think it's too late for me and soccer.
I took the day off to spend with Daniel today since it's March break. He really doesn't have the week off but he's been asking when his March break is since he knows older kids have no school. So we're off to MacDonalds now to start the day.
Take care Jamie -
Mike

Hi James,
Two years ago our beautiful 4 year old daughter was diagnosed with Severe Aplastic Anemia. She was lucky and her 7 year old brother was a perfect match. She underwent a bone marrow transplant and is perfectly healthy today! We know what you are going through. Its an emotional roller coaster. Stay strong. You can do it! And because someone gave blood to save my baby, I give blood every 56 days to save someone elses baby. We wish you all the best in your fight! You are not alone! If you, or your family need some support, or just talk to someone, the Aplastic Anemia& Myelodysplasia Association was a great support to us during our fight. Good luck my friend!

By Alberto Santoro and Family at Sunday 08 March 2009
Hey James,
We just wanted to take a moment to say we love you and support all you are doing to bring awareness. From the moment we heard everything our hearts went out to you and are willing to do all that we can to help out---donate blood, spread your message to friends etc.
Continue to walk in the faith that you already display and know that there is nothing immpossible for the Lord Jesus Christ! The battle was already won by Him and that victory is yours! He is still in the healing business!
Spend this time in joy with family and friends! Walk in peace taking the time you need to rest and recover! (John 14:27)
(Philippians 4:6-7),(Numbers 6:24-26),
(Psalm 31:24), (Hebrews 4:16)
These are some words of encouragement in the Bible.
You are in our prayers!
With love your distant cusins,
Caterina, Rosanna, Francesca, Nikayla, Domenica, Alberto Santoro
